목장 모임 때 믿어야 할 것 – 김영주 목사

목장 모임과 ‘계’모임의 차이를 한 마디로 비교한다면 ‘하나님을 경험하느냐’입니다. 아무리 많은 사람이 모여 많은 얘기를 했다고 해도 하나님을 경험하지 못했다면 그 날은 ‘계’모임을 한 것이지 목장 모임을 한 것이 아닙니다.
목장 모임이 능력 있는 것은 목장을 통해 하나님을 경험하기 때문입니다. 나머지 모든 것을 다 갖추고 정상적인 순서를 따라 목장 모임을 했다 하더라도 사람끼리 먹고 나누고 대화하고 끝나버렸다면 사교 모임을 한 것이지 목장 모임을 한 것이 아닙니다. 그래서 목장은 영적인 공동체입니다. 목장이 영적인 공동체이기에 여기에는 세상에서 가질 수 없는 몇 가지가 있습니다. 목장을 할 때 목자들은 늘 이 사실을 믿어야 합니다.
1) 이 모임에 성령 하나님께서 처음부터 끝까지 함께 계신다.
2) 모임 중에 하나님께서 반드시 한 사람을 세우셔서 은혜의 통로로 사용하신다.
3) 우리가 하나님의 임재를 기대하고 기다리고 있으면 하나님께서는 어떤 형태로든 그 분의 임재를 나타내신다.
4) 목자가 해답을 주는 것이 아니라 하나님께서 해답을 주신다.
5) 하나님께서는 우리의 기도를 통해서 일하신다. 목장에는 기도 응답이 있다.
이렇게 믿고 기도하고 목장을 하면 그 믿음의 응답들을 보게 됩니다. 이때 주의할 것은 목자가 목장을 인도하기보다는 목장에서 하나님의 임재를 느끼게 해 줘야 하는 것입니다. 목자가 되면 누구나 다 어떻게 하면 하나님의 임재를 느끼게 할 수 있을까? 여기에 초점을 맞추고 기도, 기대해야 합니다. 사람들이 목장에 오는 이유는 하나님을 경험하려고 오기 때문입니다.
그래서 삶 나눔도 그냥 지난 주간 살았던 얘기를 하는 것 보다 지난 한 주가 살면서 하나님 만난 사건을 얘기하는 게 좋습니다. 하나님을 만난다 하면 무슨 굉장한 사건을 말하는 것처럼 오해하시는 분들이 있는데 지극히 자연스럽고 일상적인 삶 속에서 깨달은 하나님의 은혜를 얘기하는 것입니다. 새롭게 깨달은 감사, 기도 응답받은 것, 내 삶에 나타난 작은 변화(마음의 동기까지) 위로 받은 것, 격려받은 것, 변화된 삶의 태도, 이런 것들이 다 하나님을 만난 경험에 속합니다. 이런 것들을 나누다 보면 목원들 모두 하나님의 임재를 느끼게 됩니다.

What to Believe in During a Life Group Meeting

If we were to summarize the difference between a life group meeting and a social gathering (“gye” meeting) in one phrase, it would be this: whether or not God is experienced. No matter how many people gather and how much conversation takes place, if God is not experienced, then it is merely a social gathering, not a life group meeting.
A life group is powerful because people experience God through it. Even if everything is well-prepared and the meeting follows a proper order, if it ends with just eating, sharing, and talking among people, then it is simply a social event—not a life group meeting. Therefore, a life group is a spiritual community. Because it is spiritual, there are things present that cannot be found in the world. When leading a life group, leaders must always believe the following:

1. The Holy Spirit is present from beginning to end of the meeting.
2. During the meeting, God will surely raise up one person and use them as a channel of grace.
3. If we expect and wait for God’s presence, He will reveal Himself in some way.
4. The leader does not provide the answers—God does.
5. God works through our prayers. There are answers to prayer in the life group.
   

When we believe, pray, and lead the group with this mindset, we will witness the answers to that faith. One important thing to remember is that the leader’s role is not simply to run the meeting, but to help others experience God’s presence. Every leader should focus on and pray about how to make God’s presence known in the group. The reason people come to a life group is to experience God.
Therefore, when sharing about life, it is better not just to talk about what happened during the past week, but to share moments where you encountered God. Some people misunderstand “encountering God” as something dramatic or extraordinary, but it often happens in very natural and everyday ways—through newly realized gratitude, answered prayers, small changes in life (even in motives of the heart), comfort received, encouragement given, or a transformed attitude. All of these are experiences of meeting God. As these are shared, all members of the group begin to sense God’s presence together.
