하나님이 인생의 창조주이시고, 교회의 주인이십니다. 그래서 하나님 앞에서 바르게 해야 성공된 인생과 성공된 사역이 될 수가 있습니다. 우리의 인생과 사역이 하나님 앞에서 성공하기 위해서 두 가지가 필요합니다.

첫째는, 올바른 목표입니다. 하나님이 원하시는 인생, 하나님이 원하시는 교회가 되는 것이 올바른 목표이고 이것이 첫 단추입니다. 이 첫 단추가 바르게 끼워져야 모든 것이 바르게 되어 집니다. 이 첫 단추가 잘못 끼워지게 되면 우리의 모든 것이 잘못 되어 지고, 모든 수고가 결국에는 헛되게 되어 집니다.

둘째는, 올바른 기준입니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 성공에 대한 기준을 주셨습니다. 그것은 “충성”입니다. 그래서 우리의 인생과 사역이 어떠한 것일지라도 신실 해야 합니다. 어떠한 위치나 일이든 순간 순간 최선을 다하고 신실하게 사는 과정이 중요합니다. 섬김을 하는 사람들에게 실망이 되는 것은 섬김의 결과가 아니라 섬김의 과정에서 최선을 다하지 않고 충성하지 않을 때입니다.

그래서 우리가 인생을 살 때에 인간적인 욕망에 의해 이루어진 인생은 아무리 화려하고 멋있는 결과를 가져 올지라도 실패입니다. 그러나 하나님이 주신 인생의 꿈과 역할을 발견해서 그 일에 최선을 다하고 신실하게 살면 성공된 삶입니다. 사역을 할 때에도 우리가 원하는 교회를 세우고 우리가 좋아하는 일만 한다면 아무리 결과가 크고 좋아도 그것은 실패입니다. 그러나 하나님이 소원 하시는 교회를 세우고 하나님이 기뻐하시는 사역에 촛점을 맞추고 신실하게 사역을 한다면 성공된 사역입니다

우리의 인생이나 사역이 모두 성공하면 좋지만 반드시 그렇지는 않습니다. 최선을 다하고 애를 썼는데도 때로는 우리가 원하지 않은 결과가 생기고 열매가 없을 때가 있습니다. 그러한 때에 실패감이나 자책감을 갖지 말아야 합니다. 어떤 때는 우리의 수고와 노력에 상관없이 어려움을 겪고 실망스런 결과가 주어질 수가 있습니다. 그러한 때에 포기하거나 좌절하지 말아야 합니다.

우리는 단지 하나님께 쓰임 받는 사람들에 지나지 않음을 알 때에 열매를 맺어야 한다는 압박감에서 자유를 가질 수 있습니다. 불성실하고 게으르면 잘못된 것이지만 그러나 최선을 다하고 신실했다면 이 세상에서의 평가와 결과에 대해서는 자유 할 수 있습니다. 우리의 인생이나 사역의 평가는 하나님 앞에 설 때 내려집니다.

하나님 앞에 설 때에 무엇을 성취 했느냐 보다는 무엇을 위해 어떻게 살았는지를 물어 보실 것입니다. 올바른 목표와 기준을 가지고 최선을 다해 살았다면 결과에 관계 없이 하나님의 인정을 받을 것입니다. 인생의 끝에서 하나님의 인정을 받는다면 성공입니다.

God is the Creator of our lives and the Lord of the church. Therefore, only when we live rightly before Him can we have a successful life and a fruitful ministry. For our lives and ministries to be successful before God, two things are necessary.

First, we need the right goal. The right goal is to become the kind of person God desires and the kind of church God desires. This is the very first button. When the first button is fastened correctly, everything else falls into place. But if this first button is fastened wrongly, everything that follows will also go wrong, and all of our labor will ultimately become vain.

Second, we need the right standard. God has given us His standard for success, and that standard is faithfulness. Therefore, whatever our life or ministry may look like, we must be faithful. What matters is the process of living faithfully—doing our best in every moment, in every place, and in every task entrusted to us. What disappoints those who serve is not the result of service itself, but the failure to give their best and to remain faithful in the process of serving.

Therefore, when we live according to human desires, even if our lives produce impressive and outwardly glorious results, they are still failures. But if we discover the God-given calling and purpose of our lives, and live faithfully by doing our best in that calling, then that is a successful life. The same is true in ministry. If we build the church we want and do only the things we enjoy, then no matter how great or successful the outcome may seem, it is still failure. But if we build the church that God desires, focus on the ministry that pleases Him, and serve faithfully, then that is a successful ministry.

We would all like both our lives and our ministries to succeed, but that is not always the case. Sometimes, even after we have done our best and labored diligently, the results may not be what we hoped for, and there may be little or no visible fruit. In such times, we must not fall into a sense of failure or self-condemnation. At times, regardless of our effort and labor, we may still face hardship and disappointing outcomes. In those moments, we must not give up or lose heart.

When we understand that we are merely people being used by God, we can be freed from the pressure of having to produce visible results. If we are careless or lazy, that is certainly wrong. But if we have truly done our best and remained faithful, then we can be free from the judgments and evaluations of this world. The true evaluation of our lives and ministries will be made when we stand before God.

When we stand before Him, He will not ask first what we accomplished, but rather for what purpose we lived and how we lived. If we have lived with the right goal and the right standard, doing our best faithfully, then regardless of the outcome, we will receive God’s approval. If, at the end of life, we receive God’s approval, that is true success.
