한 사람이 신앙적으로 성장하고 사역자로서 세워지기 위해서 교회에서 여러 가지의 말씀 공부 과정을 준비하여 말씀의 훈련을 받도록 하고 또 기도의 자리를 만들어서 하나님 앞에 서도록 합니다. 그리고 섬김과 사역을 배울 다양한 기회와 장소를 만듭니다. 말씀 훈련과 기도의 자리를 통해서 어떤 사람은 신앙적으로 성장하는 반면에 어떤 사람은 성장하지 않습니다. 또한 섬김이나 사역의 기회를 통해서 어떤 사람은 좋은 사역자로 세워지지만 어떤 사람은 그렇지 못합니다.
영적 성장은 개인적인 노력과 헌신으로 이루어집니다. 교회가 신앙적인 성장이나 섬김이나 사역을 위해 환경을 준비하여도 그것이 이루어지기 위해서는 개인의 노력이 있어야 합니다. 하나님 앞에서 개인적인 노력과 헌신이 없으면 한 사람의 신앙이 성장하거나 사역자로서 세워지지 않습니다.
나의 개인적인 신앙 여정을 돌아볼 때에 내가 개인적으로 하나님 앞에 살아가면서 영적 성장을 이루게 된 것을 봅니다.
하나님 말씀 앞에서 회개하고 고치고, 기도의 자리를 통해서 하나님 앞에 서는 일을 반복하면서 영적으로 성장하게 되었습니다. 때로는 나의 죄성과 불순종으로 무너지기도 하지만 그러나 하나님의 은혜를 덧입고 일어서서 다시 시작하였습니다. 이러한 과정을 지나면서 나의 영적 삶이 조금씩 변화되어져 가고 있습니다.
나의 사역을 돌아볼 때에도 사역을 하면서 시행착오와 실패를 하였습니다. 사역자로서 준비되지 못한 나의 부족과 내 속에 있는 자아와 지속적인 싸움을 하면서 사역자로서 조금씩 다듬어지게 되었습니다. 사역을 하면서 꾸준히 하나님의 은혜와 성령님의 능력을 의지하면서 사역자로서 세워지게 되었습니다. 개인적으로 하나님 앞에서 말씀과 기도의 영적 씨름이 있어야 신앙적으로 성장을 하게 됩니다.
예배를 드려도 하나님을 찾고자 하는 간절한 마음을 가지고 예배를 드릴 때 회개와 결단이 있게 됩니다. 말씀 공부를 해도 말씀을 삶에서 적용하고 실천할 때에 말씀의 능력을 경험하게 됩니다. 기도하면서 하나님을 만나고자 하는 갈망으로 기도를 할 때에 하나님과 가까워지게 됩니다.
사역을 하면서 사역에 대한 방법을 배운다고 해서 좋은 사역자가 되는 것은 아닙니다. 하나님 앞에서 자만과 욕심을 버리는 영적 훈련을 하는 것입니다. 하나님 앞에서 겸손해지고 의지하는 것을 배우는 것입니다. 하나님 앞에서 개인적인 영적 씨름과 헌신이 있을 때 좋은 사역자로 세워지게 됩니다. 결국 신앙적으로 성장하는 것이나 사역자로 세워지는 것은 하나님 앞에서의 개인적인 일입니다.
개인이 하나님 앞에서 어떤 삶을 살고 준비되어지는가에 따라서 한 사람의 신앙이 성장하기도 하고 사역자로 세워지기도 하는 것입니다. 그래서 교회가 예배를 드리고 말씀 공부를 하고 기도의 자리를 통해서 한 사람 한 사람이 개인적으로 하나님 앞에 설 수 있도록 관심을 가지고 돕는 것이 필요합니다.
단순히 주일 예배를 드리는 것이 아닌 예배를 통해서 하나님을 경험하게 되고 회개와 순종이 있도록 돕는 것입니다. 또한 말씀 공부 과정으로 말씀 공부를 하는 것이 아닌 말씀 공부를 하면서 하나님 앞에 말씀에 대한 반응을 하도록 돕는 것입니다. 기도 모임을 통해서도 하나님을 개인적으로 만날 수 있도록 돕는 것입니다.
단순히 교회 출석을 하고 예배 드리는 것이 아닌 한 사람이 하나님 앞에 살아가도록 개인적인 관심과 격려 그리고 기도를 주는 것입니다. 단순히 목장 모임을 가지는 것이 아닌 목자들이 목원 식구들 한 명 한 명에게 관심을 가지고 기도하고 영적으로 돕는 것입니다. 사역자가 목자와 목녀들 한 명 한 명에게 관심을 가지고 기도하고 영적으로 세워 주는 것입니다.
한 사람을 변화시키시고 세우는 것은 하나님이 하시는 일입니다. 한 사람을 하나님께 연결해서 하나님 앞에 살아가도록 돕는 것이 교회의 역할입니다.

The Path to Spiritual Growth

For a person to grow spiritually and be established as a servant of ministry, the church prepares various Bible study programs to train them in the Word and creates opportunities for prayer so they may stand before God. It also provides diverse opportunities and environments to learn service and ministry. Through training in the Word and times of prayer, some people grow spiritually while others do not. Likewise, through opportunities to serve and minister, some are established as good servants, while others are not.
Spiritual growth is achieved through personal effort and devotion. Even if the church prepares an environment for spiritual growth, service, and ministry, personal effort is still required for growth to take place. Without individual effort and dedication before God, a person’s faith will not grow, nor will they be established as a servant.
As I reflect on my personal journey of faith, I see that my spiritual growth came through living personally before God.
By repeatedly repenting and being corrected before God’s Word, and by standing before Him in prayer, I grew spiritually. At times, I fell due to my sinful nature and disobedience, but by God’s grace, I rose again and started anew. Through this process, my spiritual life has gradually been transformed.
Looking back on my ministry, I also experienced trial and error and failure. Through my shortcomings and the ongoing struggle with my inner self, I have been gradually refined as a servant. By continually relying on God’s grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, I have been established in ministry. Personal spiritual struggle in the Word and prayer before God is essential for spiritual growth.
Even in worship, when we come with a sincere desire to seek God, repentance and commitment take place. When we study the Word and apply and practice it in our lives, we experience its power. When we pray with a longing to meet God, we grow closer to Him.
Simply learning methods of ministry does not make someone a good servant. Rather, it is through spiritual training—laying down pride and selfish ambition before God, learning humility, and dependence on Him. When there is personal spiritual struggle and dedication before God, a person is established as a good servant. Ultimately, both spiritual growth and being established in ministry are deeply personal matters before God.
A person’s spiritual growth and their establishment as a servant depend on how they live and prepare themselves before God. Therefore, it is important for the church to help each individual stand before God through worship, Bible study, and prayer.
It is not merely about attending Sunday worship, but about helping individuals encounter God through worship, leading to repentance and obedience. Bible study should not just be about learning, but about responding to God’s Word. Prayer meetings should help individuals personally meet God.
It is not simply about attending church and worshiping, but about helping each person live before God through personal care, encouragement, and prayer. Small group meetings are not just gatherings, but opportunities for leaders to care for each member individually, praying for them and supporting them spiritually. Ministers should also care for and pray for each leader, helping them grow spiritually.
Ultimately, it is God who transforms and establishes a person. The role of the church is to connect individuals to God and help them live before Him.
