합심기도(2025.11.23)

결혼하면서 좋았던 것 중 한 가지는 일상 속에서 함께 예배하고 기도할 수 있는 사람이 생겼다는 것입니다. 혼자서 하나님을 독대하고 기도하며 예배 드리는 것도 기뻤지만, 아내와 함께 기도하고 예배드리는 시간은 더 풍성한 은혜가 있었습니다. 그 기도 시간 덕분에 가정의 여러 어려움들을 잘 헤쳐 올 수가 있었습니다.

혼자서 기도할 수도 있는데, 왜 두 사람이 모이면 다른 은혜가 있을까요? 제가 기도 인도를 잘 하는 걸까요? 아내가 기도의 사람인 걸까요? 그것보다 성경은 두 사람 이상이 모여서 기도하는 ‘공동체’를 특별하게 여기고 있었습니다.

마태복음 18:19-20 “내가 [진정으로] 거듭 너희에게 말한다. 땅에서 너희 가운데 두 사람이 합심하여 무슨 일이든지 구하면, 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 그들에게 이루어 주실 것이다. 두세 사람이 내 이름으로 모여 있는 자리, 거기에 내가 그들 가운데 있다.” 

우리 공동체가 같은 기도제목을 놓고 합심하여 기도하는 시간 중에 가장 공식적이고 모두가 함께 하는 시간을 꼽아보자면 주일예배 광고 후에 하는 [합심기도] 시간일 것입니다. 말씀에 따르면, 그 때 하나님께서 우리와 함께 계시고, 우리의 기도를 듣고 이루신다고 하십니다.

그럼에도 예배를 시작하는 순간이라 다소 어수선하게 지나갈 수도 있습니다. 하지만 마태복음 18:19-20의 약속을 기억하며 집중해서 기도하고, 기도응답의 은혜를 누리시길 바랍니다.

[합심기도] 기도제목을 추가하려고 합니다. 우리 교회가 물질로 섬기고 있는 선교지가 6군데나 됩니다. 선교지를 위해서 물질로 후원하는 것도 필요한 섬김이지만, 선교는 영적인 활동이자 영적전투입니다. 그래서 기도가 빠진다면 앙꼬 없는 후원이라고 할 수 있겠습니다. 목장에서도 기도하시고, 주일 예배 [합심기도] 시간에도 기도합시다. 그래서 [합심기도] 시간도 약간 더 늘려서 인도하겠습니다.

한 가지 더 부탁드리는 것은 대표기도자는 합심기도가 시작될 때 앞으로 나오셔서 저의 뒤에서 대기해주십시오. 그러면 합심기도가 끝나는 대로 지체 없이 기도할 수 있습니다.

United Prayer (November 23, 2025)

One of the blessings I have experienced in marriage is having someone with whom I can worship and pray in daily life. I used to enjoy meeting God, praying, and worshiping alone, but praying and worshiping together with my wife has brought a richer and deeper grace. Because of those moments of prayer, we have been able to walk through many challenges in our family.

We can certainly pray alone—so why is there a different kind of grace when two people gather? Is it because I lead prayer well? Is it because my wife is especially gifted in prayer? More than that, Scripture places special value on a community that gathers two or more people to pray.

Matthew 18:19–20 (NIV)

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for,

it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Among the times when our congregation prays together in agreement for the same prayer topics, the most official and unified moment is the United Prayer time after the announcements during Sunday worship. According to the Word, God is with us in that moment. He hears our prayers—and He fulfills them.

Even so, because it comes at the beginning of worship, the moment may sometimes pass by a bit busily. I encourage you to remember the promise of Matthew 18:19–20, to pray with focus, and to enjoy the grace of answered prayer.

We are also adding new prayer topics for United Prayer. Our church currently supports six mission fields financially. Supporting missions with material giving is important, but mission work itself is a spiritual ministry and a spiritual battle. Without prayer, our support becomes support missing its essential part. So let us pray in our Mokjang gatherings, and let us pray during the United Prayer time on Sundays as well. Because of this, we will extend the United Prayer time slightly.

One more request:

When United Prayer begins, the person offering the representative prayer should come forward and stand behind me. Then, as soon as the United Prayer ends, you can lead the prayer without delay.
