세 축 이야기(2025.09.07)

우리 교회는 가정교회를 하고 있습니다. ‘가정교회’라는 말 자체가 목장을 지칭하고 있기 때문에, 목장을 제일 중요하게 여기고, 목장을 잘 하면 가정교회를 잘 하고 있는 것으로 여겨질 수 있습니다. 

하지만 우리 교회가 ‘가정교회를 한다.’라고 말할 때, 그 의미는 사실상 ‘성경적인 교회를 해보자.’라는 말에 가깝습니다. 그래서 목장 이외에도 신약성경에 나오는 신약교회의 모습을 회복하는 모든 시도들이 가정교회를 하는 것에 속합니다.

신약교회의 회복을 앞서서 시도했던 교회들이 정리한 것은, ‘세 축’이 잘 세워져야 교회도 건강하게 세워진다는 것입니다. 세 축은 주일목장연합예배, 목장모임, 삶공부 입니다. 그러니까 목장으로만 되지는 않고, 주일예배와 삶공부까지 해서 세축이 다 잘 세워져야 교회가 건강하게 세워지더라는 것이지요. 

그래서 생명의 삶이 끝나면서 생각해볼만한 점은 삶공부와 목장의 관계입니다. 

우리가 성경을 읽고 공부하는 이유는 말씀대로 살기 위해서입니다. 그래서 성경공부를 하고 나면 반드시 배운 것을 실천할 현장이 필요하지요. 물론, 가정과 사회가 마지막에 실천할 현장이긴 하겠지만 무엇이든 연습이 필요한 법입니다. 말씀대로 살아보려고 해도 안전하게 시도하고 실패를 받아줄 수 있는 공동체가 필요한데, 목장이 그런 실천과 연습의 장소가 되어 줄 수 있습니다. 그렇게 배운 것을 목장에서 연습해보고, 그것이 나아가 성품이 되면 삶속에서 풍겨지고 드러나기 마련입니다.

그리고 보통 교회에서 성경공부를 하다보면 계속해야 할 이유를 잃어버립니다. 그런데 목장모임을 하다보면 삶공부를 계속 해야 할 계기가 생깁니다. 예를 들어, 목장에서 갈등이 생기거나, 영혼을 섬길 때 벽에 부딪히면 삶공부가 필요한 것입니다. 삶공부에서 말씀으로 그 문제를 해소하고, 다시 목장에서 실천해 볼 수 있습니다. 그래서 일년에 한번은 삶공부가 필요합니다. 보고서 배운다고 하지만 듣는 게 따라가야 하기 때문입니다.

이렇게 삶 공부 없이 목장이 존재할 수 없고, 목장 없이 삶공부가 있을 수 없습니다.

The Three Axes Story (2025.09.07)

Our church practices house church. Since the very term “house church” refers to Mokjang, we consider Mokjang the most important, and if a Mokjang is doing well, it may be regarded as doing house church well.

However, when our church says “we are doing house church,” the meaning is actually closer to saying, “let us try to do a biblical church.” Therefore, besides Mokjang, all attempts to restore the image of the New Testament church that appear in the New Testament belong to the practice of house church.

Churches that earlier attempted to restore the New Testament church concluded that the “three axes” must be firmly established for the church to be healthy. The three axes are the Sunday joint worship service, the Mokjang meeting, and Living Life Study. This means that it cannot be done by Mokjang alone, but Sunday worship and Living Life Study must also be established so that the three axes together build a healthy church.

So, as Living Life Study comes to an end, one point to consider is the relationship between Living Life Study and Mokjang.

The reason we read and study the Bible is to live according to the Word. Therefore, after studying the Bible, we must have a field to put what we learned into practice. Of course, family and society are the final places of practice, but everything requires training. Even when trying to live according to the Word, we need a community where we can safely attempt, practice, and even fail — Mokjang can provide such a place for practice. In this way, what is learned can be tried in Mokjang, and as it becomes part of our character, it will naturally flow out into our daily lives.

Also, in ordinary churches, while studying the Bible, people often lose the motivation to continue. But when having Mokjang meetings, reasons to keep on with Living Life Study arise. For example, when conflicts occur in Mokjang, or when hitting a wall while serving souls, Living Life Study becomes necessary. Living Life Study helps resolve such problems with the Word, and then we can return to Mokjang to practice again. That is why Living Life Study is needed once a year. Though we say we learn by seeing, listening must follow.

Thus, Mokjang cannot exist without Living Life Study, and Living Life Study cannot exist without Mokjang.
