내 아버지께 말씀드릴게(2025.06.29)

지지난주 주일예배 후, 함께 야외 예배를 준비하며 식사를 하고 있었습니다. 그때 누군가가 야외예배 당일 전후로 며칠 동안 비가 올 수 있다는 소식을 전해주었습니다. 그러자 장로님과 김집사님 등 몇분이 “괜찮아. 내 아버지께 말씀드릴게”라고 말했습니다. 자기들의 하늘 아버지께서는 비쯤은 막으실 수 있다는 자랑이기도 했고, 믿음의 고백이기도 했습니다. 

그 후 일주일간 자주 일기예보를 확인했습니다. 주일에 비가 올 확률이 20-30%는 되었습니다. 처음에는 새벽에만 비가 온다고 했다가 수요일부터는 주일 오전 11~12시 사이 우리가 예배드릴 그 시간에만 비가 온다고 했습니다. 그런데 토요일 아침이 되니, 강수 확률이 현저히 줄어들어서 속으로 할렐루야라고 외쳤습니다.

그러고 당일 아침에 블루마운틴 파크에 도착해서 하늘을 보니 지금 당장 비가 내리더라도 이상하지 않을 날씨였습니다. 하지만 감사한 것은 그 날 한방울의 비도 맞지 않았다는 것입니다. 식사 시간에 도착했던 VIP 한 분은 오는 길에 하이웨이에서도 비가 내렸고, 건너편 마트에서도 비가 왔는데, 우리가 예배 드리는 장소에는 비가 오지 않는다고 했습니다. 그날 블루마운틴 파크에서 예배드린 교회가 우리를 포함해서 세 곳이었는데, 아마 세 교회에서 다들 자기 아버지께 말씀을 잘 드렸던 모양입니다.

우연처럼 보이지만, 그런 우연이 계속 되면 우리는 눈치를 채야 합니다. ‘왜 우연은 우리가 기도하는 방향으로 일어나는 것일까? 왜 이런 일이 자주 반복되는 것일까? 아, 이건 우연이 아니구나.’ 하고 말입니다.

물론 우리가 욕심으로 구하거나, 하나님의 뜻에 맞지 않는 기도를 하거나, 하나님께 영광이 되지 않는 기도제목으로 기도해서 기도응답을 체험하지 못할 수도 있습니다. 또 하나님은 우리에게 가장 좋은 것이 무엇인지 아시기 때문에, 최선의 때에, 최선의 방법으로 ,최선의 것을 주시려고 응답을 연기하시기도 하고, 거절하기도 하고, 방향을 바꾸시기도 합니다. 그래서 항상 우리가 기도하는 대로 되지는 않습니다.

하지만 그날은 VIP가 여섯명(귀여운 꼬마를 포함)이 참석해서 자리를 빛내주셨고, 비쯤은 거뜬히 막을 수 있는 하늘 아버지를 자랑스러워 하는 아들 딸들이 함께 예배하고 교제하고 기뻐하는 자리였기 때문에 하늘 아버지께서는 기도를 안 들어주실 수 없으셨을 것입니다.

그랬던 좋은 야외 예배를 기획하고, VIP를 초청하고, 여러모로 수고하고 섬겨주신 모든 하늘 아버지의 아드님 따님들께 예수님의 이름으로 축복합니다.

I’ll Talk to My Father (2025.06.29)

Two Sundays ago, after our worship service, we were having a meal together while getting ready for an outdoor service. Someone told us that it might rain around the day of the outdoor service. Then a few people, including Elder Jang and Deacon Kim, said, “It’s okay. I’ll talk to my Father.”
They were proudly saying that their Heavenly Father could easily stop the rain. It was a bold statement of faith.

After that, I checked the weather forecast often for a week. The chance of rain on Sunday was around 20–30%. At first, it said rain would come only in the early morning. But from Wednesday, it started to show rain exactly between 11 and 12 a.m. — right when we planned to worship.
Then, on Saturday morning, the chance of rain dropped a lot. I quietly said “Hallelujah” in my heart.

On Sunday morning, we arrived at Blue Mountain Park. The sky looked like it could rain any moment. But thankfully, not even one drop of rain fell during our time there.
One of the VIPs, who arrived around lunch time, told us it had rained on the highway and even at the supermarket nearby — but not at the spot where we were worshipping.
That day, there were three churches holding outdoor worship in the park, including ours. I guess all three churches talked well with their Father.

It may look like a coincidence. But when these “coincidences” keep happening in the same direction as our prayers, we should think:
“Why does this keep happening the way we pray? Why does this repeat so often? Maybe it’s not just coincidence.”

Of course, not every prayer is answered.
If we ask selfishly, or pray outside of God’s will, or seek things that do not bring glory to God, we may not receive answers.
God knows what is best for us. He sometimes delays, redirects, or even denies our prayers to give us something better at the right time, in the right way. So, things don’t always happen the way we pray.

But that day, six VIPs (including a cute little child) came and made the day more special. And the sons and daughters who proudly trusted their Heavenly Father gathered to worship, fellowship, and rejoice together.
So I believe our Heavenly Father simply couldn’t say no to that prayer.

I bless all the sons and daughters of our Father who planned this wonderful outdoor service, invited the VIPs, and served in many ways — in the name of Jesus.
